When you log into the Roamli portal you will be able to toggle between two options, "Events" and "Challenges".
Events are experiences such as Scavenger Hunts, Walking Tours, and more which consist of individual Challenges. To create a brand new challenge select the Challenges button and it will update the "Create Challenge" option underneath.
Select "Create Challenge" and it will open the menu for you to populate key information such as the Title, Description, Points, Address, Type, and more.
- The first step will be to add a photo of your Challenge. Make sure you adhere to appropriate [U.S. copyright laws](https://www.copyright.gov/what-is-copyright/#:~:text=U.S. copyright law provides copyright,rental%2C lease%2C or lending.) if the image you are submitting is not your own. You'll be given the option to select "This is my photo" or "Attribute photo to someone else" underneath "Choose File".
- The Title is the name of the event that you and other users will see online or in the Roamli app.
- The Points are the number of points the user will earn for completing your Challenge. A Challenge you create will likely be specific towards your individual event so we recommend just using the default.
- The Description is what users will see underneath the Title when viewing your Challenge in the Roamli app or online.
- The Primary Type is the main category your Challenge will be listed as. You should select what is most appropriate, if nothing describes your Challenge you can leave it as the default "Architecture".
- The Secondary Type are the subcategories your Challenge will be listed under. Note that some Secondary Types will default based on the Primary Type you choose.
The Geographic Details is the most important section.
The location defaults to Chicago (where we're based out of!) so make sure you modify the address and latitude/longitude. You can either drag the pin on the map to auto-populate the coordinates or you can find the exact coordinates on Google Maps by right-clicking any spot on the map. (Screenshot below is from Google Maps)
- The Requires Location toggle is recommended for all events with Challenges in a specific location. If you're creating an event with Challenges such as "Take a Photo with your Pet", this would be the perfect use of the "No Location" button since you don't need this to appear on the map.
- External Links can be added if you want to add links to your organization's website, social media, or any other specific details. These will appear on the event page in the Roamli App and online.
Once you enter all the required information, click "Create Challenge" and you're all set! You can now use this challenge in any event you wish to create in the portal.
